Editorial Design: Feature Article Layout
For this project, I explored editorial design, one of the major fields within print design that includes newspapers, magazines, and other multipage publications. The assignment was to design a four page feature article consisting of two full spreads. Each page measured 8 by 10 inches, creating spreads of 16 by 10 inches. The spreads include common editorial elements such as a headline, subheads, byline, body text, captions, pull quotes, credits, and folios. I also incorporated visual components such as photographs, illustrations, infographics, icons, and supporting graphic elements to strengthen the overall design and support the written content. This project helped me develop stronger editorial layout skills, improve my use of grid systems, and better integrate typography and imagery to communicate information.
